Chichester Tip Opening Times: When to visit + alternatives


If you need to take rubbish to the local Chichester tip in Coach Road, then make sure you go there when it’sopen! Below you can find all the opening times for the Chichester and HWRC (Household Waste Recycling Centre). 

Please note, if you cannot get to Chichester tip at a time that suits you, or you cannot get all the household waste and rubbish cleared from your house, please consider the Zero Waste Group. Chichester tip opening times 

Opening times for the Chichester tip at Coach Road, Westhampnett, PO18 0NX can vary depending on the time of year and season. 

  • The Summer opening hours (1 April – 30 September) of the centre are Monday to Sunday 9am-6pm. 
  • The Autumn/Winter opening hours (1 October – 31 March) of the centre are daily 9am-4pm except on Tuesday when the tip is closed. Operating reduced hours within this period. 

Of course, there’s no guarantee that these opening times won’t change. If in any doubt, residents are encouraged to check the Chichester tip opening times. Simply by visiting the West Sussex County Council website, so you are aware of any changes to the schedule. 

Bank holiday opening times 

On bank holidays, the opening hours of Chichester Household Recycling Centre may differ. It is recommended to check the official website of West Sussex County Council for any updates on the opening hours or call directly on 01243 539762. 

Do you have to book an appointment for the Tip? 

Yes, you must have an appointment slot booked before arriving to dispose of your waste. However, no booking is required for residents arriving by foot, bicycle or mobility scooter. 

In West Sussex users of a Recycling Centre are required to provide proof of residency. Forms of identification that are accepted can be seen from the list below. Note, that any other forms of identification will not be accepted. 

  • Current driving licence (photo card or paper licence) – preferred option 
  • Council Tax bill – from the current financial year 
  • Utility bill (gas, electric or water) – less than a year old 
  • TV licence – less than a year old 
  • Letter from HMRC or the Home Office – less than a year old 
  • Current bus pass 
  • Current disabled parking permit (Blue Badge) 

Visitors to the centre are advised to check the items that are accepted at the centre before visiting. The centre accepts a wide range of items such as plastics, aerosols, electrical appliances, garden waste and much more.
