Book your private bin collection in Bristol for businesses and residential

If you run a business in Bristol, your waste is classed as commercial so it can’t legally go out with household collections. You have a duty of care to store it properly, hand it to an authorised carrier and make sure it reaches a permitted site. A private bin collection covers all of that in one arrangement. We work with cafés and restaurants along North Street, Gloucester Road and Whiteladies Road, pubs and bars around King Street and the Harbourside, the independent units at Wapping Wharf and the traders in and around St Nicholas Market, shops in Broadmead and Clifton Village, offices in Temple Quay and the city centre, salons, guest houses and serviced lets, letting agents and student landlords across Redland, Cotham, Bishopston and Fishponds, and industrial and trade units at Avonmouth, St Philips Marsh, Feeder Road, Emersons Green and Aztec West. We also arrange private bins for households needing more capacity than the council service provides, or who are dealing with a clearance, a renovation or heavy turnover in a rental property.

We know Bristol… and it shows

Bristol combines vehicle restrictions with some of the steepest streets of any city we collect from, and both affect how a round is planned. The Clean Air Zone covers the central area and charges non-compliant vehicles, so vehicle choice and routing have to be worked out before a collection day is agreed rather than after. Bus gates and restricted stretches around Bristol Bridge and Baldwin Street mean the obvious approach to a central address is often not a legal one. The Old City lanes and the streets around St Nicholas Market are tight, with servicing windows that do not suit a large vehicle at any time of day.

Then there is the topography. Park Street, Christmas Steps, the terraces above Hotwells, Kingsdown and much of Totterdown are steep enough that pulling a full 1100 litre bin to a collection point is not realistic, so the presentation point matters more here than almost anywhere. Many Clifton and Montpelier terraces have no rear access at all, which means bins are stored in front light wells or shared basement areas. Residents parking schemes across the central neighbourhoods limit where a vehicle can wait. Low-lying premises around Feeder Road and the harbour can be harder to reach in wet spells.

We plan collections around all of this, and we will tell you honestly at the survey stage if a particular slot or bin size is not going to work at your address.

Why choose Zero Waste Group

We are a licensed waste carrier, registration CBDU323204, and we provide waste transfer documentation as standard rather than on request. We turn up on the agreed day and tell you promptly if anything changes. We size the service to the premises instead of pushing a standard package, and we handle both commercial contracts and one off domestic requirements, so you are not dealing with two suppliers when a clearance comes up alongside your regular bins.

We also offer a range of additional services including rubbish removals, house clearances, white goods removal, sofa collections, and mattress collections.

Reuse, recycling and authorised disposal

Everything we collect goes through authorised waste management routes to permitted facilities. Recyclable material is separated and recovered where possible, reusable items are prioritised where they are suitable for reuse, and we work to keep unnecessary landfill down. Across our operations we currently divert around 99% of collected material from landfill.

We will not tell you that nothing ever reaches landfill. Some material genuinely cannot be recovered. What we will do is make sure it is handled legally and documented properly, and that everything capable of being recycled or reused is dealt with that way first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions we receive regarding our private bin collection service.

  • How do we know you are properly licensed?

We are a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency, registration CBDU323204, and you can check that number on the public register yourself. Anyone taking commercial waste from your premises should be able to give you a registration you can verify. If they cannot, the liability for what happens to that waste can still come back to you.

  • Where does our waste actually go once it leaves the premises?

To permitted facilities through authorised waste management routes, with recyclable material separated and recovered where possible and reuse prioritised where items are suitable. Across our operations we divert around 99% of collected material from landfill. If you need to know the destination for a specific waste stream, for a tender or an environmental report, ask and we will tell you.

  • Do we need to be on site when you collect?

No. Once the presentation point and access arrangement are agreed, collections run without anyone being there. That matters in the central neighbourhoods where residents parking schemes limit where a vehicle can wait, and for premises with bins behind a gate or in a shared basement area, so we agree at the survey stage who presents them and where.

  • Can you provide extra capacity for a refit, an event or a busy period?

Yes. Temporary additional bins or a short run of extra collections can be arranged around refits, festival and event weekends, seasonal peaks in the Harbourside and King Street trade, or a clearance running alongside your regular service. It is documented the same way as your scheduled collections, so your duty of care records stay complete.

We reuse, recycle, and donate!
